Perkembangan kajian yang berkaitan dengan metafora memperlihatkan penerokaan pelbagai aspek, termasuklah kajian tentang prosedur penginterpretasian metafora. Kajian sebegini menumpukan kaedah yang ...dapat digunakan oleh pengkaji untuk mencungkil maksud tersirat. Hasilnya, muncul pelbagai prosedur penginterpretasian metafora yang digagaskan oleh sarjana dengan ciri dan kaedah yang tersendiri. Oleh itu, objektif makalah ini adalah untuk menghuraikan dan memperincikan kerangka Model Hibrid Baharu oleh Stöver (2010) dengan menumpukan pengoperasian Model Proses Tiga Serangkai sebagai satu mekanisme penginterpretasian metafora yang bercirikan inklusif dan bermodular. Sungguhpun terdapat kajian lepas yang mengaplikasikan Model Hibrid Baharu yang melibatkan ketiga-tiga proses dalam Model Proses Tiga Serangkai, proses penginterpretasian makna metafora itu dilihat tidak menepati gagasan idea yang dikemukakan oleh Stöver (2010). Menyedari kepentingan mempolemikkan isu ini, makalah ini mengambil tanggungjawab untuk membincangkan prosedur penginterpretasian metafora berdasarkan Model Hibrid Baharu dengan memfokuskan pengoperasian Model Proses Tiga Serangkai yang melibatkan peringkat demi peringkat. Oleh itu, ungkapan metafora “api” yang dijana daripada Korpus Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan kajian. Ternyata, perbincangan tentang Model Hibrid Baharu adalah signifikan bagi memastikan kesahan maklumat daripada sumber primer dapat dipelihara dan menyebarluaskan ilmu yang berkaitan dengan bidang linguistik kognitif dan pragmatik. Makalah ini juga diharapkan dapat dijadikan panduan oleh pengkaji akan datang untuk menginterpretasikan maksud metafora kerana pelbagai input yang memanifestasikan keunggulan pemikiran Melayu dapat diserlahkan secara empiris.
U pokušaju dobivanja uvida u to kako je »sreća« konceptualizirana u kineskoj tradiciji, ova studija koristi alate kognitivne lingvistike i poetike pri istraživanju poezije ci (詞) pjesnika Yan Shua 晏殊 ...(991. – 1055.), uspješnog političara i umjetnika te jednog od reprezentativnih pjesnika pjesničkog oblika ci iz vremena vladavine Sjevernog Songa (960. – 1127.), dinastije čija je vladavina bila obilježena relativno mirnim razdobljem punim obilja i hedonističkim načinom života. Od njegovih 139 sačuvanih pjesama u ovom istraživanju odabrano je 13 pjesama koje kroz neke pozitivne emocije izražavaju izričito sretno stanje uma. Analizom tradicionalnih slika (yixiang 意象) u tim se pjesmama pokušavaju preispitivati konceptualne metafore vezane uz »sreću« s kojom je pjesnik živio, te scenariji koji su osnove tih metafora. Rezultati otkrivaju neke kulturne i konceptualne obrasce sinkronizirane s dotičnom erom, ali i neke osobne karakteristike pjesnika.
In the attempt to get an insight into how “happiness” is conceptualized in Chinese tradition, this case study adopts tools of cognitive linguistics and poetics and investigates ci (詞) poetry of Yan Shu 晏殊 (991–1055), a successful politician and artist who is one of the most representative poets of the genre from the Northern Song dynasty (960–1127), a relatively peaceful and abundant era in Chinese history, known for its hedonistic psychology. From his remaining 139 poems, the study selected 13 of the poems that explicitly express a happy state of mind or some positive emotions, and through analysis of the traditional images (yixiang 意象) in these poems attempts to extract the conceptual metaphors regarding “happiness” the poet lived by and the scenarios underlying the metaphors. The results reveal some cultural conceptual patterns in sync with the era in question but also some personal characteristics of the poet.
Cognitive linguists have proposed that metaphor is not just a matter of language but of thought, and that metaphorical thought displays a high degree of conventionalization. In order to produce ...converging evidence for this theory of metaphor, a wide range of data is currently being studied with a large array of methods and techniques. Finding Metaphor in Grammar and Usage aims to map the field of this development in theory and research from a methodological perspective. It raises the question when exactly evidence for metaphor in language and thought can be said to count as converging. It also goes into the various stages of producing such evidence (conceptualization, operationalization, data collection and analysis, and interpretation). The book offers systematic discussion of eight distinct areas of metaphor research that emerge as a result of approaching metaphor as part of grammar or usage, language or thought, and symbolic structure or cognitive process.
Pojęcie „teatralności”, przeniesione przez Goffmanna ze sfery rozważań estetycznych w dziedzinę rozważań socjologicznych, stało się dziś kwintesencją „udania”, „fałszu”, pogrążenia w „iluzji”. ...Performatywna koncepcja teorii i praktyki teatralnej przeciwstawia tej kategorii „prawdę”, „sprawczość” i zanurzenie w „rzeczywistości”, choć z pewnych efektów teatralnych nie rezygnuje. O ile inkrustowanie nimi performansu wzbogaca jego atrakcyjność, o tyle stosowanie dekonstruujących spektakl działań performatywnych obraca się przeciw naturze teatru. Analizowane w artykule przedstawienia (Na niby-naprawdę, w reżyserii Andrzeja Dziuka, Być jak Steve Jobs, zrealizowane przez Marcina Libera oraz Akropolis, według projektu Łukasza Twarkowskiego) ukazują różne sposoby jakimi teatr, poddawany presji pościgu za współczesnością, radzi sobie z radykalną zmianą sytuacji kulturowej. Spektakl Dziuka konfrontuje poetykę scenicznej metafory („na niby”) z zabiegami o charakterze performatywnym („naprawdę”), lecz odwraca znaki wartości: akt teatralnej kreacji głównego bohatera, aktora Ginezjusza, odkrywa duchowość jako „prawdziwy” wymiar świata, podczas gdy rzeczywistość „prawdziwa” okazuje się życiem „na niby”. W spektaklu Libera drogocennym „reliktem” teatru „starego” jest postać, której brechtowskie pieśni komentują konwulsje świata po transformacji 1989 roku. W jego wizji dominują efekty komputerowe, cieszy oko obrotówka, aktorzy zaś budują figury żywcem wzięte z rzeczywistości „tabloidowej”. W finale jedna z beneficjentek politycznych przemian prowokacyjnie zapowiada przejęcie budynku, likwidację teatru i zwolnienie aktorów: teatr stał się zbyteczny; możemy jedynie obserwować metodyczną dekonstrukcję tego, co stanowiło niegdyś o jego fenomenie. Natomiast w spektaklu Twarkowskiego większość akcji ma miejsce na ekranie wiszącym nad sceną, gdzie głównym partnerem aktora jest wyposażony w funkcję mowy komputer. Reżyser wyznał, że marzy o „aktorze komputerowym”; realizacja tego pomysłu zastąpić może w przyszłości żywą relację między aktorem i widzem. Bezpośredni kontakt z publicznością wnosi w spektaklu jedynie performatywny „przerywnik”, gdy aktorka przekazuje widzom doznania osoby, która przeszła udar mózgu. Czy nadchodzą więc czasy, gdy performans pochłonie teatr bez reszty, a publiczność, powodowana nowymi potrzebami, pożegna wzgardzoną „teatralność” bez żalu? Może zamiast poddania się tej ekspansji należałoby raczej zweryfikować przypiętą „teatralności” etykietę, która sprowadza bogatą tradycję różnorodnych artystycznych konwencji do jednego modelu scenicznego o rodowodzie naturalistycznym i redefiniować pojęcie „teatralności”, w duchu, jaki nadawali mu Artaud, Witkacy, Brecht. Dla nich była ona przeciwieństwem „udania”, stanowiąc demonstrację procesu kreacji artystycznej. „Teatralność” tak rozumiana może – operując metaforą, obrazem poetyckim, działaniami, które pobudzają wyobraźnię – przeobrazić „na niby” w „naprawdę”, przenosząc widza w wyższego rzędu „realność”, w realność sztuki.
Cognitive Linguistics argues that language is governed by general cognitive principles, rather than by a special-purpose language module. This introductory textbook surveys the field of cognitive ...linguistics as a distinct area of study, presenting its theoretical foundations and the arguments supporting it. Clearly organised and accessibly written, it provides a useful introduction to the relationship between language and cognitive processing in the human brain. It covers the main topics likely to be encountered in a course or seminar, and provides a synthesis of study and research in this fast-growing field of linguistics. The authors begin by explaining the conceptual structures and cognitive processes governing linguistic representation and behaviour, and go on to explore cognitive approaches to lexical semantics, as well as syntactic representation and analysis, focusing on the closely related frameworks of cognitive grammar and construction grammar. This much-needed introduction will be welcomed by students in linguistics and cognitive science.
Most research on metaphor comprehension in second language (L2) speakers focuses on conventionalised expressions (e.g., Littlemore et al. 2011; Mashal et al. 2015), whereas L2 comprehension of novel ...metaphorical expressions has not been given much attention (Jankowiak et al., 2017). Th is paper investigates the extent to which L2 speakers at different levels of proficiency differentiate between creative metaphors classified as easy and hard to comprehend. A self–paced reading task combined with sensicality judgements was used to test two groups of participants: L2 speakers of English with low/intermediate and advanced proficiency. The study examined reading times and answers to the sensicality judgements which inquired about whether the metaphors make sense. The results show that the advanced group of speakers more often judges that creative metaphors make sense, but in the case of reading time, proficiency has no significant effect on the understanding of different types of metaphors. Based on the absence of interaction between the groups and the type of metaphor, it can be concluded that the skills needed to understand the metaphor are partially transferred from the first language, however, the results of the sensicality judgments show that the advanced group judges significantly more that creative metaphors (regardless of difficulty) are meaningful. Th is indicates that with advanced knowledge of the language comes richer semantic representations, so advanced speakers more easily activate features of concepts that are otherwise more difficult to activate
Metaphysical theology that emphasizes the ability to reach “the truth,” or what is called logocentrism, about God has succeeded in giving rise to violent deviations from religious patterns. ...Deviations due to this metaphysical theology also lead to a crisis within the body of the philosophy of divinity. By drawing from Jacques Derrida's thoughts on deconstruction, this paper aims to show an attempt to delay logocentrism in metaphysical theology. Deconstruction uncovers the existence of différance which suspends the dependence of theology on logos through metaphor. Metaphors do not come from the mind (logos), but imagination (terra incognita). The talk about Godhead (Theos) through metaphor postpones logocentrism which believes that metaphysics and theology are a unity that can never be separated.Abstrak. Teologi metafisik yang menekankan kemampuan untuk menggapai “kebenaran utuh,” atau yang disebut logosentrisme, tentang Allah telah berhasil melahirkan penyimpangan pola beragama yang penuh kekerasan. Penyimpangan akibat teologi metafisik ini juga berujung pada krisis di dalam tubuh filsafat ketuhanan. Dengan menimba dari pemikiran Jacques Derrida tentang dekonstruksi, tulisan ini hendak memperlihatkan sebuah upaya menunda logosentrisme dalam teologi metafisik. Dekonstruksi membuka selubung keberadaan différance yang menunda ketergantungan teologi terhadap logos melalui metafor. Metafor tidak datang dari pikiran (logos), melainkan imajinasi (terra incognita). Pembicaraan tentang Allah (Theos) melalui metafor menunda logosentrisme yang meyakini bahwa metafisika dan teologi adalah satu kesatuan yang tidak pernah terpisahkan.
Cilj je rada usmjeriti pažnju na neke pretpostavke koje se čine važnima za bolje razumijevanje mišljenja koje se dodatno označuje kao »kritičko«. Najprije se uvodno konstatira da se govor o ...»kritičkom« mišljenju pojavio u kontekstu obrazovanja te se podsjeća da je »kritičnost« bitna sastavnica mišljenja uopće. Stoga se predstavljaju različiti tipovi uma iz kojih se razvijaju različiti tipovi racionalnosti i mišljenja. Pri tom se podsjeća na suvremenu kritiku apsolutiziranja zapadnjačke diairetičke racionalnosti, a potom se pokazuje kako se od jednosti uma razvila pluralnost racionalnosti. U sljedećem poglavlju predstavlja se izvorni um kao jedinstvo logosa i mitosa, a nastavno se tematizira ono što se iz perspektive diairetičke racionalnosti ne priznaje pripadajućim umu – drugost uma. Potom slijedi prikaz mogućnosti priznavanja racionalnosti drugosti uma koja se pokazuje u metafori i analogijskoj racionalnosti. Sljedeće poglavlje diskutira neke manifestacije posljedica diairetičke racionalnosti i s njima povezane poteškoće s obzirom na pretpostavke razvoja sposobnosti kritičkog mišljenja. Na kraju se predstavljaju neki uvjeti za kritičko mišljenje.
Das Ziel dieses Textes ist, die Aufmerksamkeit auf einige Voraussetzungen, die als wichtig für besseres Verständnis des Denkens scheinen, das zusätzlich als „kritisches“ bezeichnet wird, zu richten. Zuerst wird einleitend konstatiert, dass die Rede vom „kritischen“ Denken im Kontext der Ausbildung aufgetreten ist, und es wird daran erinnert, dass „Kritisches“ ein wesentlicher Bestandteil des Denkens überhaupt ist. Deshalb werden verschiedene Vernunfttypen vorgestellt, aus denen sich verschiedene Rationalitäts- und Denktypen entwickeln. Dabei wird an zeitgenössische Kritik an der Absolutierung der westlichen dihairetischen Rationalität erinnert, wonach es gezeigt wird, wie sich aus der Einheit der Vernunft die Pluralität von Rationalitäten entwickelt hat. Im folgenden Abschnitt wird die ursprüngliche Vernunft als Einheit von Logos und Mythos dargestellt, fortgesetzt von der Thematisierung dessen, was aus der Perspektive der dihairetischen Rationalität nicht als der Vernunft Zugehöriges anerkannt wird – das Andere der Vernunft. Darauf folgt die Darstellung der Anerkennungsmöglichkeit der Rationalität des Anderen der Vernunft, welche sich in der Metapher und der analogischen Rationalität zeigt. Nächstes Kapitel diskutiert einige Folgemanifestierungen der dihairetischen Rationalität und mit diesen Folgen verbundene Schwierigkeiten in Bezug auf Voraussetzungen der Fähigkeitsentwicklung des kritischen Denkens. Zum Schluss werden einige Bedingungen für kritisches Denken dargestellt.
