Ta o svežem paradižniki je v tem mrazu malo verjetna. Snega je veliko, ceste so slabo prevozne, drevje ...prekrito z ivjem in vsepovsod visijo ledene sveče. Tako je tudi v okolici Čateških toplic, so pa tam s pomočjo termalne vode in stekla ustvarili nekakšno večno pomlad. Tako tudi ta o svežem paradižniki ni bosa.
Lani so v Čateških toplicah dogradili tri steklenjake v skupni izmeri 10.000 kvadratnih metrov površin. Vsi stroški, gradnje in tozadevne raziskave znašajo 170 milijonov dinarjev, uspehi pa so že tu. V dveh steklenjakih raste solata. Kljub obilju cevi, skozi katere kroži termalna voda in ustvarja videz pomladi, solata letos tu ne napreduje posebno ugodno. To deloma zato, ker sta bila dva steklenjaka prepozno dograjena, še bolj pa zaradi letošnje izredno hude zime. No pa zdaj solata že počasi leze v glavice in do srede februarja jo bo prišlo že malo več v prodajo. Bolje bo s kumari, ki bodo dozorele s koncem marca in jih bo od 300 do 500 kilogramov dnevno.
V tretjem steklenjaku se zelo bohotno razrastel paradižnik. Toplota mu zelo prija in če bi še imel dovolj sonca, bi bil pridelek kar nadpovprečen. Navsezadnje, važno je, da je sploh obrodil in to lepo obrodil, zakaj pri nas je pridelovanje pod steklom še poizkusnega značaja. Lepi, sočni, rdeči plodovi so dokaz, da je pridelovanje vrtnin pod steklom možno tudi pri nas, pa če tudi gre za sedaj za zelo majhne količine.
Od prvega decembra dalje poberejo tu kakih 50 kg paradižnika dnevno. Z njim zalagajo dolenjske turistične postojanke, manj zagrebške in ljubljanske. So pa seveda te količine premajhne, da bi po tej poti rešili preskrbo ljubljanskega trga.- Original language summary:

Garden-plot areas spontaneously developed and were distributed across the entire flat area of Ljubljana. Due to a new, more urban lifestyle and a policy change by the city authorities, the area of ...garden plots fell considerably at the end of the twentieth and the beginning of the twenty-first centuries. The most recent analysis of plot gardening in the City of Ljubljana, which surveyed 302 plot gardeners, showed that the overall infrastructure available in garden-plot areas is relatively poor. This activity is mainly practiced by older and lower-income people, most of whom live in apartment buildings. Due to pesticide residues and heavy metals in the soil and produce, as well as groundwater contamination, plot gardening poses a threat to public health and the environment. The 2008 Draft Ljubljana Zoning Implementation Plan foresees a reduction in the total area of plot-gardening areas by nearly half~however, even the planned community garden plots include some that do not meet the minimum location standards. Some garden-plot areas are problematic primarily because they are located close to major traffic routes. In the future, plot gardeners will have to be more systematically informed and educated about proper and safe use of fertilizers and pesticides.
