    1990年代以降,若者の大人への移行は著しく長期化した。若年労働市場の悪化は離家や家族形成に深刻な影響を与えている。しかし国による社会保障制度の差は,それらへの影響に違いをもたらしていることが考えられる。すなわち若者への保障が厚い制度のもとでは労働市場でのリスクは必ずしも直接に離家や家族形成に影響を与えない一方,それが乏しい制度のもとでは影響が直接的であることが予想される。本研究では若者の離家と家族形成への社会保障制度の効果について,日英比較を通しての検証を行う。日本の若者への社会保障は極めて限定的である。一方イギリスのそれは近年大きく後退したもののなお一定の厚みがある。分析結果からは,家族形成において,イギリスでは労働市場におけるリスクに対して社会保障が一定の緩和機能を果たしている一方,日本ではその効果はほとんど見られないことが示された。
