ABSTRACT Introduction Greater trochanteric pain syndrome (GTPS) denotes several disorders around the lateral aspect of the hip. GTPS may develop in native hips as well as after total hip arthroplasty ...(THA). It is estimated that 5−12% of patients suffer from GTPS after primary THA. Despite the prevalence of GTPS, it is hard to diagnose and manage it properly. The VISA-G questionnaire was developed as a patient-reported outcome measurement tool for evaluation of GTPS. The aims of the present study were to evaluate the reliability of the VISA-G Slovenian and its construct and criterion validity. Methods After the finalization of the VISA-G Slovenian translation procedure, 59 patients with a painful trochanteric region planned for THA filled in the VISA-G Slovenian at the hospital on two occasions 5−7 days apart. On the first occasion, each patient also filled in the EQ-5D-5L questionnaire and the Harris Hip Score (HHS) was completed by the physiotherapist. Results The VISA-G Slovenian was found to have a test-retest reliability of ICC 0.977; 95% CI 0.96; 0.986. Internal consistency was assessed with Cronbach’s alpha 0.79. The statistically significant, but low, correlation between the HHS and VISA-G (r=0.48) was obtained. Concurrent validity of the VISA-G with the EQ-5D-5L showed moderate to strong correlations in Mobility, Self-Care, Usual Activities, Pain, EQ-5D-5L Index and EQ VAS, but low correlation in the Anxiety subscale. No floor and ceiling effect were obtained. Conclusions The VISA-G Slovenian has excellent psychometric properties needed to measure gluteal tendinopathy-related disability of patients in Slovenia. Thus, we recommend using the questionnaire for measuring trochanteric hip pain.
The paper presents a unified account of licensing conditions of Negative Polarity Items (NPI) in Telugu. Based on the distribution of NPIs in complex clauses, we state that negation c-commanding NPI ...at the base-generated. Consequently, features checking between negation and NPI restricts the alternatives on the scale inherent to NPIs. The morphological realization of NPI in the non-negative contexts is different from the context with overt negation. The NPIs show the following distribution. NPI occurs in subject position; A negative licensing Multiple NPIs. There are three types of NPIs: wh-element, quantifier and idiomatic expression. In complex clauses, wh-elements block long-distance licensing. In contrast, quantifiers and idiomatic expressions do not block long-distance licensing.
This study reports about antenatal characteristics of Roma minority population. The study was designed to investigate data about health behaviours known to be associated with reproductive outcomes of ...Roma women that have very good living conditions and relatively high resource availability.
A retrospective study included 204 Roma and 408 non-Roma hospitalised singleton births that occurred in the Maternity Ward of the General Hospital Virovitica in the period from 1991 to 2010. Data about women's age, marital status, smoking, reproductive health (abortions, delivery), antenatal care, perinatal complications and gestational age were taken from hospital records and analysed.
Roma women were averagely more than three years younger than non-Roma women, only 10.8% were married. Smoking was more frequent. The average number of births of Roma and non-Roma women was similar, averagely two children per woman. The rate of induced abortions in the Roma women was higher, while the frequency of spontaneous abortions was equal. Inadequate antenatal care of Roma women was associated with two times higher incidence of perinatal complications. A higher frequency of deliveries at home without professional assistance in Roma pregnancy resulted in lower perinatal outcomes. It was confirmed that Roma mothers give birth earlier (38+6 vs. 39+4 weeks) and have a higher incidence of premature births (9.3% vs. 2.2%).
In the comparison of antenatal parameters between the two researched groups, poorer prenatal outcomes in the Roma population were found, despite full integration and considerable improvement in living standards of this ethnic Roma population.
V uvodnem teoretskem delu študije bomo najprej razjasnili temelje dileme in osnovne pojme izobraževanja odraslih. Zastavili si bomo vprašanje vpetosti Memoranduma o vseživljenjskem učenju v ...kontinuiteto prizadevanj za višjo stopnjo razvoja posameznika in njegovih zmožnosti. Pogledali bomo, ali ima in zakaj ima izobraževanje odraslih kompenzacijsko vlogo. To bo osnova tudi za raziskovanje pomena neformalnega izobraževanja za razvoj spretnosti v empiričnem delu. Odločili smo se za dve raziskovalni vprašanji, ki ju bomo analizirali na podlagi razpoložljivih podatkov raziskave PIAAC, pri čemer bo težišče na analizi povprečja vseh vključenih držav, vključili pa bomo tudi analizo podatkov za nekaj posameznih držav. Rezultati kažejo na velik pomen neformalnega izobraževanja za dosežke na vseh treh področjih, kjer smo merili stopnje doseženih spretnosti. Vključevanje v neformalno izobraževanje pri tistih z nižjo izobrazbo je imelo bolj pozitivne učinke kot pri tistih s srednjo in višjo izobrazbo. Pomembna ugotovitev je tudi, da neformalnemu izobraževanju, vezanemu na poklic in delo, ne kaže namenjati večje pozornosti kot tistemu, ki poteka mimo teh potreb. Pri nekaterih izmerjenih spretnostih se je pokazalo, da so v vseh primerih dosegali boljše rezultate tisti, ki so bili vključeni v neformalno izobraževanje, ki ni bilo povezano s potrebami dela in poklica.
Prispevek prinaša spoznanja o pomenu mentorja in njegovi vlogi v izobraževanju starejših odraslih. Starejši odrasli so lahko udeleženci izobraževanja oz. mentoriranci v mentorskem procesu, lahko pa ...tudi mentorji drugim osebam, ne glede na starost. Pomembno je, da imajo poleg svojih strokovnih znanj in izkušenj tudi nekatera znanja o vlogi mentorja, pomenu komunikacije in mentorstvu kot procesu. Omenjeno bomo predstavili v prispevku, kjer bomo še posebej poudarili skupne značilnosti mentorstev na različnih področjih. Predvsem je za razvoj mentorskega odnosa pomembna na posameznika usmerjena paradigma mentorstva. Poleg te pa bomo opisali tudi razvojne stopnje v mentorskem odnosu, ki so pomembne za dosego dobrega mentorstva starejšim odraslim osebam.
In geodesy, reliable results are obtained with quality observations and the corresponding mathematical and stochastic models. One establishes if individual criteria and requirements during the ...measurement and calculation procedures are met by evaluating and testing typical parameters respectively -- procedures of statistical hypothesis testing being indispensable part of the process. In deformation analysis, statistical tests are applied for testing the assumptions about the parameters, for assessing the conformity of observations and the mathematical model, for detecting of gross errors in observations for identifying the conformity of allegedly fixed points between the epochs and for determining the points with statistically typical displacements. For the processing of quality measurement data, the task of a surveyor is to use a correct and reliable mathematical model, which provides a high degree of confidence in the results and reduces a client's risk. Methods of statistical hypothesis testing help experts to make decisions, but it is not possible to use them to replace measurement and calculation procedures in geodesy.
Članek predstavlja metodo za prepoznavanje kvalitativnih in kvantitativnih razsežnosti odprtega javnega mestnega prostora v uporabnikovi doživljajski sliki. Temelji na domnevi, da odprti prostor ...mesta v miselni predstavi ni zvezni kontinuum, kar v splošnem velja za njegovo fizično pojavnost. Odkriva, kje in kako doživlja meje konkretnega odprtega javnega prostora, v katerem je, in kaj doživlja kot soseščino takega prostora. Raziskuje torej pravila, po katerih uporabnik fizično kontinuiran odprt javni prostor v mislih strukturira na manjše enote in jih povezujejo med seboj v omrežje. S poznavanjem teh pravil je mogoče odprte javne prostore, ki jih uporabniki doživljajo izrazito pozitivno, na miselni ravni razširiti na širši prostor in tako oživiti tiste sosednje prostore, ki so doživljani z negativno konotacijo ali pa v miselni predstavi sploh niso prisotni in posledično uporabljani. Prav navzočnost ljudi pa je bistvena sestavina kvalitetnega javnega prostora.
