The influence of expanded graphite and polydimethylsiloxane on mechanical and tribological properties of polyamide6/glass fiber composites [Elektronski vir]Hlebanja, G. ...The effects of the size of expanded graphite (~5 m (EG5) and ~1000 m (EG1000)) and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) on thermal conductivity, mechanical and tribological properties of glassfibre- ... reinforced polyamide 6 (PA6/GF) were studied. Composites with different contents (2, 6, and 10 wt.%) of EG or Maxithen (PA6/PDMS-50%/50%) fillers in PA6/GF were prepared using laboratory twinscrew extruder and subsequently injection moulded in the form of sticks and disks, needed for thermal, mechanical and tribological testing. Mechanical properties were determined by dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) in terms of storage modulus (E') and loss modulus (E") vs. temperature (T). Friction factor and wear experiments were run under conditions at a rotating speed of 7 rpm and load of 6 N. The results of mechanical analysis showed that the storage modulus is reduced by the addition of PDMS and increased by the addition of EG. The addition of EG5 increases storage modulus more than EG1000. The lowest coefficients of friction of composites were obtained by the addition of 6 wt.%Maxithen or 10 wt.% of EG5. Wear increases with the addition of all fillers; only slightly when EG1000 is added. Furthermore, all filled PA6/GF with expanded graphite have superior thermal conductivity.Source: Polytrib 2014 [Elektronski vir] : proceeding (Datoteka Session II/4_JAPIC_The influence of expanded graphite and polydimethylsiloxane on mechanical and tribological properties of polyamide 6-glass fiber composites.pdf (5 f.))Type of material - conference contributionPublish date - 2014Language - englishCOBISS.SI-ID - 13689115
