  • Thermal dehydration of sodium perborate

    The reaction kinetics and physical transport processing governing the thermal dehydration of solid sodium perborate particles were investigated using a thermogravimetric balance and a batch fluidized ... bed dryer. In both systems the dehydration of ▫$NaBO_2xH_2O_2x3H_2O narrowly-sized particles obeyed a contracting area equation for the chemical rate control regime: 1-(1-x)^{\sqrt {1-x}=kt at different temperatures. The activation energy for NaBO_2.H_2O_2.3H_2O dehydration was approximately 90 kJ mol^{-1} at atmospheric pressure. The magnitudes of heat and mass transfer resistance external to and within the solid product were estimated from the relevant pseudo steady state transport equations.$▫
