  • Urban or cyberspace communications of university and city
    Zupančič-Strojan, Tadeja
In the informational society there is only one possibility of saving humanity, which derives from the university idea of community: by direct contacts between seekers and offerers of knowledge and ... experience. Recognizable places encourage such contacts. Human creativeness needs places of quiet dreaming not only to rest. It demands inspiring places, interwoven with their contexts of space and time, open to people, and, it demands comfortable places of heterogeneity. Institutionalized creativness of the university community needs the challenge of the whole space and society. Permanence of that challenge derives not from artificial projects of different sizes made in laboratories but from the piecemeal coordinated or accelerated growth of wholeness, which tends to the dinamic balance between growth and coherence of the part and the whole of the town. The university is an integral part of the town, which represents university experience. The cyberspace substitution of urban and university space doesn't substitute that experience.
