  • Velike elastoplastične deformacije tankih lupin = Large elasto-plastic deformations of thin shells
    Brank, Boštjan ; Damjanić, Frano
The work is concerned with a formulation and computational aspects of an elasto-plastic model for thin shells. Attention is given to the situations where strains remain small, although continuum ... displacements and rotations are not restricted. A von Mises yield criterion with isotropic hardening is adopted in constitutive description of elasto-plastic material. The finite element formulation is based on a four noded element. The main objective of the present approach - namely the simulation of failures of thin elasto-plastics typically associated with buckling type instabilities and the simulation of bending dominated shell problems resulting in formation of plastic hinges - is illustrated with two examples. For such situations this model is expected to provide accurate description of the physical phenomena
