  • Microbiological evaluation of control points in hospital laundries in Slovenia [Elektronski vir]
    Fijan, Sabina ; Šostar-Turk, Sonja
Laundered hospital textiles should not contain microorganisms that cause diseases because their users are patients with an impaired immune system. Besides achieving a sufficient antimicrobial effect ... of the laundering procedure, it is also necessary to introduce regular cleaning and disinfectingmeasures of all technical equipment, areas, surfaces, shelves etc.which come into contact with cleaned laundry, thus minimizing the growth of microorganisms. The purpose of the research was to assess the hygiene levelin hospital laundries in Slovenia. The control points (CPS) were chosen where the risk of biocontamination is the greatest according to RABC-principles. The aim of this research was to conduct a sanitary microbiological of hygiene at chosen CPs and then compare the results to the general RAL-GZ 992ž2 standards that constitute important hygiene assurance recommendations for textile care in hospital laundries. The sanitary microbiological assessment of the laundries showed that the most important CP was the disinfection laundering effect. It is also important to introduce regular cleaningždisinfecting measures in the clean area of the laundry, especially all surfaces that come into contact with laundered hospital textiles in all subsequent processes of textile handling thus preventing recontamination of textiles.
