Optimization of the antimicrobial treatment of cotton fibres using BTCA and chitosan [Elektronski vir]

The aim of presented work was the optimization of permanent chitosan binding onto cotton fibres using 1,2,3,4- buthanetetracarboxylic acid (BTCA) as a cross-linking agent and on the other hand as the ...anchor group source for chitosan binding. On the basis of three factor analysis the optimal process conditions were determined. Results showed that lower condensation temperature, lower BTCA concentration and higher chitosan concentration significantly increase the amount of accessible amino groups in treated cotton fibers.
