In the paper the comparison between the study programs in Faculty of Education in Maribor and the study programs of different European universities was performed. The progressive two degrees model ...was established. It was found out that European universities acceded to changes in higher education regarding the length of each degree differently, in contrast to our expectations. For the sphere of geography more often the first degree lasts four years and the second only one year, but we found also the universities and study programs with three years long first degree and two years long second degree. The paper presents the renovation process of geography study programs (pedagogical and non-pedagogical) in Slovenia and the comparison with the selected study programs of European universities. Important is as well, that the first steps to the Bologna renovation of geography study programs in Slovenia were already made (the international mobility of students, ECTS evaluation and possibility to select subjects).
