  • Prediction of students' short-term memory in interdependence with noise
    Fošnarič, Samo ; Planinšec, Jurij
The goal of the present study was to analyze if in addition to thermal and light constraints on the work environment, noise aIso affects the level of children's short-term memory. We carried out the ... study on a small sample of male students (N = 20) aged between 13 and 14 years in artificially created work conditions - in a "climate chamber". We used short-term memory tests which students solved in 18 different combinations of work environment stresses, and this led to 360 measurements. The results show that, looking at individual factors, all the factors of work environment stress under consideration have an important effect on the level of children's short-term memory. When we look at the matter from an interactive point of view, we notice that noise is the factor that stands out most in the stress process. All these findings have helped us to develop prediction factors from the acquired results. With these prediction factors, we can anticipate the level of short-term memory if we know the physical parameters of the work environment.
