  • Memory effects in randomly perturbed systems exhibiting long range orientational ordering [Elektronski vir]

    We study pattern characteristics in randomly perturbed structures exhibiting continuous symmetry breaking. A Lebwohl-Lasher type lattice model is used which well describes the onset of orientational ... ordering of a system of rod-like objects. For example, such systems mimic orientational ordering tendency in liquid crystals or in an ensemble of nanotubes. We set that impurities impose a random anisotropy type of disorder to the objects. For such system are typical domain pattern which is characterize by domain length ▫$\xi$▫. We analyze dependence of ▫$\xi$▫ on memory effects. Our results show for which conditions the Imry-Ma theorem is obeyed.
