  • Termo-optična modulacija optične poti v optičnem vlaknu dopiranim z vanadijem = Thermo-optics optical path length modulation in vanadium doped fiber

    This paper presents an all-fiber optical-path-length modulator, based on the direct heating of the highly absorbing fiberʼs core by a thermo-optic effect. The modulator utilizes a short section of ... vanadium doped fiber, made by a flash vaporization technology, and a 980 nm high-power pump diode. The achievable optical path length modulation primarily depends on the pumpʼs power and the thermal conductivity of the surrounding fluid, whilst the time response mainly depends on the fiber diameter. The absolute optical path change in excess of 500 Žm and a time constant of 20 ms were demonstrated. The presented modulator can find use within various fiber-optics applications such as white-light interferometry.
