We conducted a quelitative research study to gain a greater understanding of whether artistic expression in preschool children, which is based on observing a work of art, originates in their own art ...and design strategy. In our case study we considered the presumption that art and design strategies, which are codetermined by the level of visual and thematic aspect of artistic development, personal preferences to artistic factors, individual affinity to visual means of expression and personal characteristics, are independent from the assigned task and submitted template. The sample for the study were two preschool children. An analysis of documents comprised of four chosen photographs of the observed subjects was chosen as the independent technique of data collection. Results indicate that if appropriately motivated and guided, given the same starting point children will create with regard to their individual abilities and characteristics regardless of common starting points.
