  • Schools between traditional and contemporary forms of violence [Elektronski vir] = Škola između tradicionalnih i suvremenih oblika nasilja
    Pšunder, Mateja
In the globalised world of the logic of capital, rivalry and competitiveness, violence is a part of our everyday lives. Studies have confirmed that violent behaviour of the young population is a ... relatively extensive and pressing problem also at schools. There are numerous reasons and manifestations of violence in schools. When we speak of bullying, physical aggression is often emphasised. However, in schools, there are also other forms of traditional aggression, among them verbal aggression. On the one hand, the problem with verbal aggression is that it is less emphasised and on the other hand that it is more discreet, concealed and unnoticed. The violent person can whisper the violent words or merely drop hints to the victim . even in the presence of a teacher and is in this way able to conceal his violent act. It is similar with psychological violence. In addition to traditional forms of violence, there are also other forms of violence that have made themselves present among the young population. These are the so ]called contemporary forms of violence that in certain characteristics differ from the traditional forms of violence. Among these contemporary forms of violence, the article focuses on internet violence and violence via mobile phones. Contemporary forms of violence are on the rise in schools and yet there are still not many discussions focusing on this issue. Research into these problems is also scarce. We are therefore faced with a new challenge and phenomenon that still needs to be defined and researched. A growing problem ininstitutions is also the problem of psychological violence among employees. This problem did not bypass educational institutions. The article wishes to point out the specific 'role' and 'circumstances' of mobbing in educational institutions, especially considering the fact that schools are supposed to be institutions focusing on the values of tolerance, cooperation and mutual assistance.
