  • The role of quality in factors of global competitiveness
    Dubrovski, Drago
Most often a study of competitiveness can lead to results which are more misleading than revealing. The reason for this is the exceptional complexity of this concept, which by all means requires ... detailed systematic study and a well-defined methodological approach. When undertaking the study of competitiveness, we must be well acquainted with contemporary trends accompanying the competitive process, the three levels of competitiveness, as well as the factors with their interconnections which on these levels influence the formation of aggregate competitiveness of an individual product. Only in this way will it be possible to avoid inadequate generalizations resulting exclusively from price comparisons. A contemporary conception of quality is a redefining element of market constellations, and is inseparably linked to the remaining characteristics of trends in today's environment (internationalization or globalization, marketing, innovativeness, flexibility), thereby considering the changed or at least modified concept of the product and competitiveness. Of all factors of competitiveness, product quality has the most long-term favourable and reliable influence on the efficiency (productivity, cost reduction) and effectiveness (profitability) of business and therefore on the existence and development of a company. This is the reason why product quality has to be a basic premise of business or its global strategy.
