  • Computer aided gear design
    Ren, Zoran ; Ulbin, Miran
The paper describes the computer aided gear design system ZOBGON suitable for every day use in industry. Comparing the developed system with some commercial computer aided gear design systems, like ... [ZAR 1996], one can immediatly notice the advantages of the user friendly interface, the predefined standard parameters that can also be changed if desired, and the complete control of the system. What sets ZOBGON apart from similar systems is the possibility to optimise the gear in regard to different optimization criteria either manually or automatically. The system was not built as a competition to other commercial programs or standard calculation methods, it is rather intended to explore further possibilities of such systems. It is the tool that enables better understanding of standard calculation methods and provides for a faster design of gear pairs on the basis of the standard calculation methods. Only the new design methods based on computational analyses will provide for better and more efficient methods in gear design.
