Ektoparaziti v gnezdih polha (Glis glis) in mestne lastovke (Delichon urbica) ter njihova vektorska vloga : doktorska disertacija = Ectoparasites from the nests of the fat dormouse (Glis glis) and the house martin (Delichon urbica), and their vector role : dissertation thesis

Pregledanih je bilo 60 gnezd polha (Glis glis) in 145 gnezd mestne lastovke (Delichon urbica). V gnezdih G. glis smo našli 9117 ličink bolh (Siphonaptera), 1984 samcev in 2547 samic veveričje bolhe ...(Monopsyllus sciurorum sciurorum), 3 samce in 4 samice lastovičje bolhe (Cetaphyllus hirundinis), 1 samca bolhe vrste Ceratophyllus rusticus, 3 samce lastovičje stenice (Oeciacis hirundinis) ter 3 samce in 3 samice živalske uši vrste Schizophthirius sp.. V gnezdih D. urbica pa 22431 bolšjih ličink, 4132 samcev in 5945 samic Cer. hirundinis, 59 samcev in 128 samic Cer. rusticus, 4 samce vrabčje bolhe (Ceratophyllus fringillae), 7752 ličink, 1771 samcev in 1725 samic lastovičje stenice (Oec. hirundinis) ter 23 samcev in 33 samic lastovičje muhe (Stenepteryx hirundinis). Cer. fringillae in St. hirundinis sta novi vrsti za Slovenijo, Cer. rusticus in Oec. hirundinis sta najdeni drugič, Schizophthirus sp. pa tretjič. Z metodo PCR je bilo na prisotnost bakterije Rickettsia typhi preiskanih 19 vzorcev M. sciurorum, 70 Cer. hirundinis, 86 Oec. hirundinis in 7 vzorcev St. hirundinis. Na prisotnost virusa Hantavirus pa 3 vzorci M. sciurorum, 27 Cer. hirundinis in 26 Oec. hirundinis. Vsi na Hantavirus preiskani vzorci so bili negativni. 1 vzorec M. sciurorum, 4. Cer. hirundinis, 2. Oec. hirundinis in 1 vzorec St. hirundinis so bili pozitivni na reakcije. Izolacija R. typhi je uspela iz 1 vzorca M. sciurorum, 2. Cer. hirundinis in 1 vzorca Oec. hirundinis. Vse naštete vrste so prvič opisane kot vektorji R. typhi. M. sciurorum in Cer. hirundinis sta deseta in enajsta vektorska vrsta bolhe za R. typhi. Oec. hirundinis in St. hirundinis pa prva do sedaj znana vektorja iz žuželčjih redov Hemiptera in Diptera. Prisotnost R. typhi v lastovičjih ektoparazitih in posredno tudi v gostitelju D. urbica je prvi dokaz o razširjenosti R. typhi v ptičjem ciklusu.
