  • Sensitivity analysis of the human body mechanical model
    Prebil, Ivan ...
The same crash scenario can have different effects on different size (male, female, child) occupants. The sensitivity analysis shows the effect of human body geometrical and other parameters on the ... head, chest and pelvis acceleration and helps to evaluate the effects of crashes on different size occupants. We discuss the sensitivity analysis of proposed mechanical models of the human body. The direct approach of sensitivity analysis is introduced, which enables to calculate sensitivity coefficients in a straightforward way. The approcah is semi-analytical, and based on symbolic derivatives of differential equations of motion. It is shown that sensitivity analysis brings a deeper insight into human body injury criteria. The sensitivity coefficients could be incorporated into existing injury criteria such as Severity Index (SI) and Head Injury Criteria (HIC), or could be used independently.
