Lowering infrastrucure costs for web application deployment platform

Commercial development and deployment infrastructure for web applications represent a great share of total costs, especially for smaller companies. The alternative to costly commercial software is so ...called "free" software. The articel presents one of the possibilities how to establish complex web-application execution paltform, using only non-proprietary software. The architecture and non-functional requirements for web applications are presented. The advantages and disadvantages of this selection and various types of licensing of free software are also discusses. At the end, the practical example of "free" web application software infrastrucure is included: Linux as an operating system, Apache web server, Tomcat application server, MySQL relational database, Java as development platform and other add-ons.
