This paper describes the development and testing of a new medium-voltage insulator with a capacitive divider. The insulator with capacitive divider has been designed by means of an analysis of a ...three-dimensional electrostatic model based on the method of finite elements. This analysis is helpful in defining the shape of the insulator, the shape of the electrodes of capacitivedivider and the distances between the insulators. The numerical calculations of the electric field have been confirmed by practical tests on aprototype of the new insulator with a capacitive divider.
