The results survey of the pilot project Separated hosehold plastic waste collection in Maribor

ǂThe ǂincreasing quantities of waste as a result of the increasing population and technological development request new approaches to waste management. In order to find a cost-effective waste ...management system, the quantities and the structure of waste must be known. In Slovenia there is not enough data about the structure of waste, especially about plastic waste. Therefore, the pilot project was carried out in the second biggest city in Slovenia, Maribor. Municipal plastic waste was separated in households on the base of identification symbols on products and separately collected in bags of different colours. The project duration was six months and in this period of time we determined the most important parameters for succesful and cost effective plastic waste collection. In the paper some results are presented.
