  • Dinamična analiza deformiranja cestne varnostne ograje pri naletu vozila
    Vesenjak, Matej ; Ren, Zoran
The paper describes the dynamic analysis of the steel road restraint system which is used on public roads to prevent a vehicle from veering off the road or braking through to the opposite lane. The ... European standard EN 1317 provides exact criteria a road restraint system has to fulfill. Practical observations of installed systems indicate that the current distance spacer is too stiff, which results in unaccaptable decelerations during vehicle impact. The stiffness of the restraint system in the initial phase of the crash is largely attributed to the distance spacer design. The purpose of this research is to evaluate new designs of the distance spacer with increased crash energy absorption due to the controlled deformation during vehicle impact. The stiffness of various designs has been evaluated with nonlinear dynamic analysis of a 3-D road restraint system with FEM. The computational analyses prove that the currently used distance spacer is indeed far too stiffand that new designs assure controllable elast-plastic deformation and obsorb more crash energy which in turn decreases decelerations during the impact and increaes the safety of road users.
