  • Decreasing the flow rate of CO2 in methanol process using NLP model [Elektronski vir]
Kovač Kralj, Anita ; Glavič, Peter
All countries are trying aim to reduce their primary energy demand and CO2 emissions. The opportunities for emission reduction depend very much on the existing plant and energy system. Simultaneous ... optimization structure and parameters using nonlinear programming (NLP) can give additional annual profit which is strongly influenced by the decreasing flow rate of CO2 in the process. The NLP model contains equations for structural and parametric optimization of the plant with additional equations for CO2 conversion. The simultaneously optimized NLP model of low-pressure Lurgi methanol plant can include the effects of raw material flow rate, reactor conversion, temperature's efficiency of separator, fraction of the exhaust flow rate and energy saving to decrease the CO2 emissions by 1000 t/a.
