The paper describes computational crash analysis of the road safety barrier for the purpose of its design evaluation. The purpose of the presented research was to build and evaluate a full-scale ... computational model of the road safety barrier for use in crash simulations and to compare the computational results with crash test measurements. The impact severity and barrier deformation have been evaluated by the dynamic nolinear elastoplastic analysis of the 3D barrier model by FEM. Good agreement of computational and experimental results has proved the correctness of the computational model. The real experimental tests have also shown that the evaluated safety barrier assures controllable deformation and appropriate crash energy absorption, which ensures the safety of vehicle passengers.
