Effective order-based production planning and control

This paper deals with the difficulties in managing order-based production and explains why the existing production planning and control systems, mainly used for make-to-stock production, are ...inappropriate in order based production. For this reason the authors propose ten requirements companies have to fulfil in order to attain effective order-based production planning and control. Based on these presumptions and requirements we have built a new model for order-based production planning and control. The new model has been expanded with project management methods and techniques which offer many benefits. Each order should be treated as a project. We are talking about production in a multi-project environment.
