The methodology of researching word-formation groups expands exploration of the binary relationship between the motivating and motivated word to include the relationship between the simplex word and all its pertinent direct (the verb pogledati in relation to the verb gledati) or indirect (the noun pogled in relation to the verb gledati) derivatives. In this way, word-formation groups with words derived from the same root and meaning are taken into account. The aim of this article is (1) to present word-formation and meaning producing characteristics of select simplex Slovene verbs with connotative meaning, and (2) within a word-formation group, to specify places where the basis of word-formation lacks connotative meaning, whereas derivatives possess it (gledati → ogledati → ogleduh nav. slabš.; videti → vidljiv knjiž. → vidljivost).
