Croation writer Miroslav Krleza is profiled, and his "dramatized essay" "Finale: An Essay in Fifty Centuries of Synthesis" is highlighted. It was written in the 1910s or 20s, and bears comparison with other anti-war plays of the period. Krzleza was a Marxist and a modernist, and despite his stature in Croatia, his work occupies no place on the Western stage.
