U ovom radu prikazuje se svjetlo/-ost kao model i paradigma koja omogućuje mišljenje i govor o najkompleksnijim pitanjima poput onih o Bogu, svijetu, istini, bitku i biću, čovjeku, smislu, dobru i zlu... Već iz posve kratkog spomena ključnih pojmova u povijesti filozofije, ali i teologije i umjetnosti, razvidna je enormna važnost ove bazične metafore svjetla za stvaranje naše slike svijeta i mogućnosti govora o njoj. Hans Blumenberg svoju prvu raspravu o metaforologiji upravo posvećuje ovoj prevažnoj metafori svjetla, uvodeći pojam „apsolutne metafore“ za one metafore – slike koje se zbog svoje obuhvatnosti i bogatstva smisla nikako ne mogu prevesti u nikakve doslovne izraze i pojmove. Cijela zapadna misao prožeta je svjetlom. Pojmovi istina i svijet iz naslova ovog rada izravno se povezuju u pojmu svjetla (svjetlosti), jer istina sja i pokazuje se (illuminatio), a svijet je već etimološki vezan uz riječ „svjetlo“.U završnome dijelu rada autori prikazuju i manifestaciju svjetla u gotici, što zasigurno predstavlja i određenu refleksiju srednjovjekovne teologije svjetla u arhitekturi. In this article the author considers Light as a model and paradigm that we use when thinking and speaking about the most difficult issues such as about God, World, Truth, Being, Man, Sense of the World or Life, Good and Evil... If we make only a very short overview of the basic concepts in the history of philosophy, theology and art, obviously the importance of the light-metaphor arises already by the (implicate) construction of our worldview and any possibility to talk about it. Hans Blumenberg in his first study about metaphor analyses the metaphor of light and introduces the concept of “absolute metaphor” for the kind of metaphors that, because of their encompassment and the richness of the sense and meaning, can never be “translated” into the literal expressions and concepts. We can see the metaphor of light everywhere in our western thought. And the concepts Truth and the World in this title are both connected with the concept of Light, because truth is shining and shows itself (illuminatio), and the word “svijet” (“world”) in Croatian comes etymologically directly from the word (adjective) “svijetao” (bright, light).In the last part of the article we present the role of light in the Gothic architecture, that reflects the relation between theology and light in the Middle Ages.
