Extended description: Vsako leto od 1947, 8. februarja, na dan slovenskega nacionalnega kulturnega praznika, ki obeležuje obletnico smrti slovenskega romantičnega pesnika in velik liberalni um, Franceta Prešerna, je Prešernova nagrada podeljena enemu ali dvema uglednima slovenskima umetnikoma. Na isti dan so podeljene nagrade Prešernovega sklada do šestim umetnikov. To so najvišje državne nagrade na področju umetnosti, izbere in podeli pa jih Prešernov sklad. Leta 1959 je nagrado prejel Miško Kranjec, med gosti pa so prisostvovali tudi Vida Tomšič, Franc Kimovec Žiga in dr.
