Kartografska izdavačka djelatnost u izravnoj je službi institucije sigurnosti plovidbe. Svim parametrima koji određuju i prikazuju reljef morskog dna, te dubinama, posvećuje se osobitu pozornost. U radu se predstavljaju načela i postupci u ovoj djelatnosti s kritičnim osvrtom na neke procesne elemente, te prijedlozi za moguća rješenja. Suvremeni pristupi mogu pridonijeti unapređenju i poboljšanju kartografskih prikaza, te na neki način pridonijeti optimizaciji sigurnosti plovidbe. Odnosi se na načine obavljanja hidrografske izmjere, korištenje nacionalnog i WGS elipsoida, mjerila u kojima se izrađuju kartografski izvornici, vrijednosti izobate upozorenja itd. Chartographic publishing is in direct service of navigation safety institution. Special attention is paid to all parameters which define and present seabed relief and depths. The work represents principles and procedures in this activity with critical review on some processed elements, and suggestions for possible solutions. Modern approach may contribute to promotion and improvement of chartographic presentations and in a way add to safety of navigation. It refers to the methods of performing the hydrographic surveying, using the national and WGS ellipsoid, scales for chartographic originals, values of warning depth contours etc
