In 1995 The National Motorway Construction Programme (NMCP) started in Slovenia, Europe. The NMCP defines the priority of construction for various sections of the new Motorways mainly in the European ... Corridors n°5 and n°10. By 2004 the total Motorway network of 700 km is planed to be finished. Slovenia was the first Central European country which decided in 1995, after more than 20 years, to stop with the manual toll collection and establish the ETC system. Introduction of the ETC system was a part of NMCP, too. The single lane toll booth and barrier based Electronic Toll Collecting System, named the ABC System, is the transition phase until the full free flow multilane multiuser tolling, compatible with the European CEN278 standards be established. The system definition and users experiences after 3 years of commercial use of the ABC system will be presented in the paper. The system, based on two-way read/write microwave 2.45 GHz link will be gradually replaced by the 5.8GHz microwave link by the end of this year. The other plansfor the future expansion of the ABC ETC system will be described, too
