  • Some theoretical bases and practical results of turn-milling optimisation

ǂAn ǂanalysis about selection of cutting parameters in turn-milling process is described in this paper. The vibrations during the machining were measured on the housing of the machine tool. Most ... probably the spectrum of these vibrations is correlated to the vibrations of the cutting tool. To test the influence of some cutting parameters (i) eccentricity between the tool and workpiece, (ii) cutting speed, and (iii) depth of cut were varied. An increase of all these parameters resulted in an increase of surface quality. The results showed that under the given circumstances the dynamic stability of the machining process was under the critical limit. In addition, the surface quality depended rather on the appropriate set of kinematics than on entry-exit conditions during the machining.
