  • Cyclic plasticity and damage of cold forging tool for production of automotive shift fork
    Rodič, Tomaž ...
Fatigue damage due to cyclic plasticity is one of the most critical failure mechanisms for metal forming tools. In cold forging more than eighty percent of tools fail because of this phenomenon. In ... this work a constitutive model is applied where elasto-plastic response of tool steel materials under cyclic loading is modelled by coupling non-linear isotropic and kinematic hardening with damage. The model has been implemented into a commercial finite element code ELFEN by means of symbolic approach for automatic code generation. The performance of the model is presented by introducing results of a 3D industrial test case related to cold forging of an automotive shift fork.
