  • Transportation policy - an important element in development of freight transport system of the Republic of Slovenia [Elektronski vir]

    The field of freight transport has gone through significant structural changes in the recent period. The volume of goods transported has grown markedly in all transport systems, in particular in road ... freight transport. The reasons behind such trend lie mainly in changes in the market and a significant rise in transport within urban areas. The growth of the latter has primarily been due to the restructuring of economy, increasingly moving from a manufacturing to a service economy. The focus of this paper is on the EU transport policy and on the national transport policy of the Republic of Slovenia as an important element of the development of the Slovenian freight transport system. On the basis of a critical analysis of the situation certain potential measures are indicated which may lead to the achievement of the set objectives.
