  • Reusable database components, the patterns from metabase repository
    Welzer-Družovec, Tatjana ...
Modelling of information is becoming more and more important as the size and complexity of information systems and their databases is exploding. Consequently we are faced with an increasing demand ... for more and more complex applications built on databases. This rapid growth has simulated the need for new concepts, tools and techniques for a database modelling, design and development at different levels. Concepts can be applied in a domain level, on which the application in a domain is described, or in an algorithm level, or in a representation level. In each level the objects are different and different rules govern the behavior of them. Therefore the concepts, rules and methods for modelling are also different. One of the new possibilties tries to apply reuse to the database modelling and design. However, the reuse in database environment did not seem to have received enough attention yet, while until now the most of the research has been done only on the software reuse. But on the other hand in the last time quite a lot of research is conducted on patterns which are significant parts of human experience. From this point of view the goal of this paper is to show that it is possible to apply reusable database components as patterns from MetaBase repository. Finally patterns were involved and connected to the MetaBase project.
