  • Patients's satisfaction with family practice: comparison between Europe and Slovenia = Zadovoljstvo bolnikov z zdravnikom družinske medicine: primerjava med Evropo in Slovenijo
    Kersnik, Janko, 1960-2015
Background. Patient's evaluation can be used for a benchmark in interpractice, national as well as international comparison on quality of care. The aim of the study was to describe the level of patient ... satisfaction with with the Slovene family practice in comparison to European data. Methods. We used an internationally standardised and validated instrument for patients' evaluations of general practice care developed in a series of studies. Sample. 60 consecutive patients in 36 practices in Slovenia were approached and offered a self-administered questionnaire. For international comparison we used database from EUROPEP study including 18,000 patients from 14 countries in Europe. Results. 58% of participants were very satisfied with the level of care received from their personal family practitioners. By far the lowest evaluated item was waiting room. Participants were also less satisfied with perceived time during the consultation, with connective aspectsof care: feeling that family physicians showed interest in their personal situation, feeling that family physicians made them easy to explain about problems. On the other hand patients praised many other aspects of family medicine care: confidentiality of medical records, listening capacity and being able to speak to the family practitioner on the phone. Conclusions. Patients' satisfaction with family practice care in Slovenia showed to be relatively high and can be compared to other European countries.
