  • Nefarmakološka obravnava bolnika s KOPB - rehabilitacija = New-pharmacological management of patients with COPD - rehabilitation
    Šorli, Jurij, 1970-
The principal goals of pulmonary rehabilitation are to reduce symptoms, improve quality of life, and incease physical and emotional participation in everyday activities. Which symptoms have been ... treated in patients with COPD todate and What do these patients desire from treatment? These are two questions with entirely different answers. The majority of studies, which try to convince us of the success of COPD treatment states FEV1 and its improvement as the most important parameters. However, the results are hardly convincing. Why? By definition, COPD is characterized by obstruction, which isnot entirely (if at all) reversible. At the same time, the decline in pulmonary function in healthy humans is about 50 ml/year. However, patients are little interested in their FEV1 and VC values. To them, what they can do without feeling breathless, how well they sleep and socialize, what they can eat or drink etc. is much more important. When setting new criteria for the monitoring of this chronic disease, which progresses from a localized (pulmonary) condition to an increasingly more systemic one, new indicators of treatment success and prognosis are therefore required.
