  • Trendi občutljivosti bakterij v Kliničnem centru. Ali je vzrok za visoko odpornost nekaterih bakterij širjenje odpornih klonov? = Trends of bacterial susceptibility in the University medical centre in Ljubljana. Is spreading of resistant clones in some bacterial species the reason for high rates of resistance?
    Müller-Premru, Manica ...
Trends of antimicrobial resistance were determined by comparing antibiotic susceptibility of the most frequent bacteria isolated in the University Medical Centre in Ljubljana and at the Institute of ... Oncology in 2000-2002, andthe influence of resistant clone spreading on bacterial resistance was detected. The total rate of methicillin-resistance in Staphylococcus aureus decreased from 18% in 2000 to 13,6% in 2002; resistance in blood isolates decreased from 28.3% to 16%, in wound isolates from 18.3% to 14.3%, and in tracheal aspirate isolates from 40.7% to 31.8%. With molecular typing we determined that all methicillin-resistant isolates of Staphylococcus aureus from blood belonged to a single clone which has spread among different hospital departments. Resistance of Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniaeincreased, but resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa was stable. Resistance to penicillin in pneumococci from blood increased from 14.3% in theyear 2000 to 15% in 2002, and from lower respiratory tract samples from 22.2% to 28.2% (most isolates had low level of resistance). Erythromycin resistance of pneumococci from respiratory tract increased from 10.3% to 28.2%. Among enteric pathogens resistance to ciprofloxacin increased in Campylobacter spp., but Salmonella spp. remained susceptible.
