  • Genetski (DNA) označevalci za koronarno bolezen
    Petrovič, Danijel, 1963- ; Peterlin, Borut, 1963-
Coronary artery disease is multifactorial disorder. There are several gene markers for CAD, existing either at the level of proteins (i.e. C-reactive protein, interleukin 6), DNA (different genetic ... polymorphisms) or mRNA. With these markers we can predict CAD and its complications (acute coronary syndrome, sudden cardiac death), and also restenosis after percutaneous coronary angioplasty or stenting. Biological approach is used for testing of new gene polymorphisms (potential genetic risk factors). Moreover, we should emphasize the importance of gene-environment interaction at both personal and population level, the field covered by pharmacogenomics. The knowledge of genetic markers at individiual and/or population level could serve as a part of the global cardiovascular assessment.
