  • Kirurška anatomija perifernega dela obraznega živca in novosti v kirurškem zdravljenju njegovih bolezni in poškodb ter zdravljenju posledic njegove okvare
    Battelino, Saba
The facial nerve is unique among motor nerves in that it has the longest course through a narrow bony canal of any nerve in the body, and because of these it is paralyzed more often than any other ... nerve. The disability resulting from facial palsy is especially distressing because of the grotesquedisfigurement accentuated by exactly those emotions that lend beauty to the normal countenance: smiling and laughing. Facial paralysis is above allan otology disease because more than nine tenths of the cases are due to a lesion within the temporal bone. The facial nerve trauma and the other possible causes followed by facial nerve damage are discussed. The surgical anatomy and the surgical approaches regarding therapy of paralysis/paresis of the facial nerve is emphasized. The essential is close collaboration among thespecialists involved in the diagnosis, therapy and rehabilitation of the paresis/paralysis of the facial nerve.
