    In the situation of increasing AIDS epidemics among drug abusers in Europe, the phenomenon of intravenous drug abuse in Slovenia is an issue of ever greater concern. Social measures will be more ... effective if directed to the field, if they will be pragmatic at forming connections with drug consumers, and if strategy and measures will be based on adequate epidemiologic and ethnographic quantitative and qualitative information. As we are comparable toother threatened states concerning the spreading of intravenous drug abuse, it would be reasonable to start with the introduction of field approaches supported with an adequate epidemiologic infrastructure with us, too. An active contribution of drug abusers themselves is of utmost importance as well.
