  • Razvoj slovenskega botaničnega izrazja v 19. stoletju na primeru Murkovega (1833) in Pleteršnikovega (1894/95) slovensko-nemškega slovarja [Elektronski vir]

    In this paper we showed the development of the Slovenian botanical terminology in the 19th century. We used the two most significant dictionaries of that century: the dictionary of Anton Murko (1833) ... and Pleteršnik's Slovenian-German dictionary (1894/95). Murko's dictionary includes only plant names, but no other botanical names. There is a total of 220 Slovenian terms in the dictionary with a Latin equivalent. Murko used dictionaries of his ancestors as well as the newest literature about botany for writing out the plant names. Pleteršnik's dictionary contains a large number of plant names, other botanical descriptions and also the qualifier bot. (= botany). He obtained most of the plant names from lexicographers (Caf, Murko, Zalokar) and collectors of these names (Medved, Tušek, Josch, Erjavec).
