  • Gastropods (Gastropoda: Prosobranchia, Pulmonata) of Kum, Posavsko hribovje (Slovenia) : Polži Kuma (Gastropoda: Prosobranchia, Pulmonata), Posavsko hribovje (Slovenija)

Kum is the highest part of the Sava hills (Posavsko hribovje). It is located in the central part of Slovenia, between the Sava and Sopota rivers, and belongs to the Alpine region, the sub-Alpine ... foothills. Geographical and ecological conditions are very favourable for the great majority of gastropods, especially land snails. The majority of gastropods with a wide distribution such as Holarctic, Palearctic, or European are from the order Pulmonata (Basommatophora). Prosobanchia is represented predominantly by spring and subterranean species whose range of distributin is a great deal more limited. Thirtytwo-species or 43,8% of land snails species found in Kum were species with wide ranges of distribution. Sixteen southeastern Alpine snails were found, 21,9%. Twelve Alpine-Dinarid species were found, 16,4%. There were nine southern European species, 12,3%. Two (2,7%) narrowly endemic species also inhabit the studied region. Real Dinarid and mediterranean species were found only one (1,4%) of each.
