An understanding of safety problems pursuant to environmental release of GM (Genetically Modified) crops is considered important. Among the recognized safety problems, the possibilities of weediness ...and ecosystem invasion are constantly being validated. We herein compared the growth characteristics and germination rate of soybeans formed by hybridization with vitamin A-enhanced soybeans carrying an introduced gene that increases β-carotene content. We also examined overwintering, survival, and weed competitiveness to evaluate hybrid ecological impact on long-term unmanaged cultivatable land. These studies revealed that the hybrid soybeans exhibited intermediate growth characteristics and germination rate compared with the vitamin A-enhanced soybeans and wild soybeans, or exhibited traits similar to those of the maternal strain. Overwintering experiments were conducted by planting seeds at depths of 0, 5, 10, and 20 cm and recovering them after three or five months. After five months, all seeds at depths more than 5 cm lost viability. Among seeds recovered after three months, only wild soybeans retained viability at depths of more than 5 cm. Survival and weed competitiveness were assessed by sowing each type of seed and performing no irrigation, or pest or weed control. Quantitative assessment of numbers of individual soybean plants that appeared in the experimental plot revealed that all plants germinated after sowing, but only wild type plants survived overwintering. These studies suggest that both GM soybeans and hybrid soybeans cannot survive in uncultivated land even if they are released into the environment, which indicates less possibility of ecosystem invasion and weediness.
An agricultural infrastructure is a representative social overhead capital to promote sustainable economic growth. To maximize economic improvement through infrastructure, agricultural infrastructure ...should be designed effectively because its shape or form can directly influence crop productivity. However, in the agricultural field, 2D drawings and specifications, which require training to interpret, are still widely employed to build agricultural infrastructure. Hence, building information modeling (BIM), which requires that 3D models of all infrastructure types or buildings be created, has been introduced. However, this 3D model is not sufficient to create the sense of presence when the agricultural infrastructure design reviewer walks through the 3D model presented on a monitor. The building information model computer-aided virtual environment (BIM CAVE) application, originally developed by Dr. Julian Kang, Texas A&M University, is employed in this study to increase a sense of presence. The existing application was updated in 2015 by an author after the existing source code associated with the vector product was revised to synchronize nine computers which surround the user in 2015. In addition, the application was updated again to be compatible with Autodesk Navisworks 2022 or later versions instead of Autodesk Navisworks 2012. Lastly, through interviews, the feasibility of the multimonitor system based on the updated application is investigated to determine its appropriateness as an agricultural infrastructure review system.
Pacific oysters Crassostrea gigas are a popular shellfish in the Republic of Korea. However, due to their abundant moisture and nutrient content, oysters are susceptible to microbiological growth and ...biochemical changes, which lead to quality degradation. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) in maintaining the quality of raw oysters during storage. Microbiological and physicochemical parameters such as pH, glycogen content, soluble protein, turbidity, and volatile basic nitrogen (VBN) were analyzed for oysters stored under various gas compositions and storage periods. The results showed that there was no significant increase in viable cell count in MAP oysters after six days in MAP oysters. Moreover, the physicochemical quality of non-MAP oysters deteriorated rapidly, whereas the quality of MAP oysters were maintained during storage. This study suggests that MAP can be an effective technique for maintaining the freshness of raw oysters during distribution and storage, and may also be useful for extending the shelf-life and maintaining the quality of other seafood products.
This study proposes an efficient management direction for Korean construction accident cases through a deep learning-based text data classification model. A deep learning model was developed, which ...categorizes five categories of construction accidents: fall, electric shock, flying object, collapse, and narrowness, which are representative accident types of KOSHA. After initial model tests, the classification accuracy of fall disasters was relatively high, while other types were classified as fall disasters. Through these results, it was analyzed that 1) specific accident-causing behavior, 2) similar sentence structure, and 3) complex accidents corresponding to multiple types affect the results. Two accuracy improvement experiments were then conducted: 1) reclassification, 2) elimination. As a result, the classification performance improved with 185.7% when eliminating complex accidents. Through this, the multicollinearity of complex accidents, including the contents of multiple accident types, was resolved. In conclusion, this study suggests the necessity to independently manage complex accidents while preparing a system to describe the situation of future accidents in detail. 본 연구는 딥러닝 기반의 텍스트 데이터 분류 모델의 성능 고찰을 통해 한국어 건설 재해사례의 효율적 관리방향을 제안한다. 이를 위해 비정형 텍스트 문서인 건설 재해 보고서를 활용해 건설 사고의 대표적 유형인 추락, 감전, 낙하, 붕괴, 협착의 5개 범주로 분류하는 딥러닝 모델을 구현하였다. 초기 모델 테스트 결과, 추락 재해의 분류 정확도가 상대적으로 높게 도출되며 타 유형을 추락 재해로 분류하는 경우가 많이 발생한다는 특징이 나타났다. 원인 분석 결과, 1) 구체적인 사고 유발 행동, 2) 유사한 문장 구조, 3) 여러 유형에 해당되는 복합사고가 위의 특징에 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었으며, 이 중 추가 실험을 통해 검증이 가능한 복합사고에 대한 두 가지 정확도 개선 실험을 진행하였다: 1) 재분류, 2) 제외. 실험 결과, 복합사고 제외 시 분류 성능이 185.7% 향상되었으며, 이를 통해 여러 사고 유형에 대한 내용을 동시에 포함하는 복합사고의 다중공선성(multicollinearity)이 해소되었음을 알 수 있다. 결론적으로 본 연구에서는 향후 사고에 대한 상황을 상세히 서술하는 체계를 마련함과 동시에 복합사고를 독립적으로 관리할 필요성을 시사한다.

Using the Delphi method and EFA in this study, Pre-Execution and Execution were derived as risk areas that require intensive hedge when penetrating the construction market in fragile states. It was concluded that the risk hedge to the master plan for the business conditions and infrastructure is the most important. 건설산업은 지속가능발전목표(SDGs; Sustainable Development Goals)에 대해 도전과제와 기회를 동시에 가지고 있다. 건설산업의 과제는 건설의 질을 높이는 것이며, 이는 특히 취약국가에 필요하다. 삶의 질에 영향을 미치는 건설환경을 유지 및 개선하는 것이 건설산업의 주요 역할이기 때문이다. 본 연구를 통해 미니 델파이 방법과 탐색적 요인분석을 활용하여 취약국가 건설시장 진입시 집중적으로 대응이 필요한 리스크 영역으로 Pre-Execution과 Execution을 도출했고, 공사수행과 관련하여 발생하는 비용, 사업조건, 인프라의 마스터플랜에 대한 리스크 대응이 가장 중요하다는 결론을 도출할 수 있었다.
Flying fish Cypselurus agoo roe is a popular food ingredient due to its abundant nutrition, unique texture, and flavor. It contains high levels of polyunsaturated fatty acids, protein, and minerals ...such as calcium, phosphorus, potassium, and vitamins (A, B 1 , B 2 , B 6 , and niacin), making it a highly utilized food ingredient. Additionally, it is widely used as a raw material for food and cooking in several countries. After harvesting, flying fish roe is dried and transported to processing plants, where it performed a re-moisturizing process. However, the conventional re-moisturizing process is time-consuming and results in some loss of quality. Thus, this study investigates the conditions required for the re-moisturization of flying fish roe including the composition of the immersion solution, immersion time, and conditions that could minimize damage to the roe. The results suggest a reasonable composition of immersion solution to minimize damage to flying fish roe and the most appropriate immersion time for re-moisturization. These results may provide valuable insights for the industry to enhance the quality of re-moisturized flying fish roe, leading to an increase in its market value and demand.
