Elaeagnus angustifolia
,
Robinia pseudoacacia
,
Fraxinus angustifolia
, and
Pinus nigra
were used as tree species. We also tested the success of several shrub species:
Amygdalus orientalis
,
Calligonum polygonoides
, and
Spartium junceum.
After five growing seasons,
E. angustifolia
showed the highest survival, with 80% of planted seedlings remaining. For the shrubs,
A. orientalis
was the most successful species with a 95% survival rate. Broad-leaved trees grew a cumulative average of 34 cm in height in 5 years, whereas
P. nigra
seedings grew only 9 cm. The greatest height growth occurred in the shrubs, with
A. orientalis
gaining 40 cm in height in 5 years. Overall,
E. angustifolia
and
A. orientalis
appeared best suited for afforestation in these areas.
R. pseodoacacia
and
F. angustifolia
may also be used as alternative species.
Igdir Province is situated in the Eastern Anatolian Region of Turkey. Wild edible plants and their utilization methods have not been previously documented there. This study was conducted during an ...ethnobotanical survey of Igdir Province from 2007 to 2012, in the period from May to October, when plants were in their flowering and fruiting periods. There were 210 interviews carried out in 78 villages. This study provides information about 154 wild plant taxa belonging to 27 families that have been used as foodstuffs, spices, or hot drinks. Seventeen wild edible plants were recorded for the first time during this study. Eight endemic species were reported as used for their edibility, and new local names for plants were also recorded. The cultural importance index was calculated for each taxon. The most culturally important species are Mentha longifolia, Falcaria vulgaris, Polygonum aviculare, Rosa canina, Crataegus azarolus, Capsella bursa-pastoris, and Malus sylvestris. Biga, located in the southwestern part of the Marmara Region of Turkey, is the largest district of Canakkale. Wild edible plants and the ways in which they are used in Biga have not previously been ...documented. This ethnobotanical study of Biga was conducted between June 2011 and September 2014. In this study, we recorded information such as the local names of plants, the manner in which they are used, and the particular parts of the plants used. The cultural importance index was calculated for each taxon. One hundred and sixty-five interviews were conducted in 49 villages. The study revealed that 55 wild edible plant taxa belonging to 41 genera are used in this area. The most frequently used families are Rosaceae, Lamiaceae, Polygonaceae, and Apiaceae. The genera that represented the greatest number of taxa included Rumex (six taxa), Thymus, Eryngium, Mentha, Oenanthe, Papaver, Prunus, Rubus, and Urtica (each containing two taxa). The most culturally important species were Urtica dioica, U. urens, Malva sylvestris, Thymus longicaulis subsp. longicaulis var. subisophyllus, and Cornus mas. Local people consumed plants in the form of vegetables, fruits, beverages like herbal teas, spices, and other products. Edible parts of plants included leaves, aerial parts, young stems, and fruits. The main reason for the use of bulbiferous spurs originated clone plants was to increase reliability and acceptability of RAPD and ISSR techniques in DNA fingerprinting. Raised 40 clone plants were divided into five separate groups each with eight individuals and each experimental group was watered with 0 (control), 0 (acid control), 50, 100 and 200 µM AlCl
3
-containing Hoagland solutions on alternate days for two and a half months. All plant soils except control group were sprayed with 0.2% sulfuric acid following watering days and this contributed acidic characteristic (pH 4.8) to soil structure. Increase in Al concentrations were accompanied by an increase in total soluble protein amounts, a decrease in photosynthetic pigment contents, and with appearance, disappearance and intensity changes at RAPD and ISSR band profiles. Out of tested RAPD1-25 and ISSR1-15 primers, RAPD8, RAPD9, ISSR2 and ISSR7 primers produced reproducible band profiles that were distinguishable between treatment and control groups. Findings showed that RAPD and ISSR fingerprints have been useful biomarkers for investigation of plant genotoxicity, especially in clone plants. Moreover, if these fingerprints are integrated with other physiological parameters they could become more powerful tools in ecotoxicology.
A total of 444 naturally distributed taxa belonging to 62 families are used in the traditional medicine in the East Anatolian region of Turkey. These mainly belong to the families like Asteraceae (93 ...taxa), Lamiaceae (52 taxa), Rosaceae (30 taxa), Fabacaee (27 taxa), Boraginaceae (20 taxa), Apiaceae (17 taxa), Brassicaceae (16 taxa), Ranunculaceae (16 taxa), Malvaceae (12 taxa), Liliaceae (11 taxa), Polygonaceae (10 taxa), Euphorbiaceae (8 taxa), Scrophulariaceae (7 taxa), Solanaceae (6 taxa), Plantaginaceae (5 taxa), Crassulaceae (5 taxa) and Chenopodiaceae (5 taxa). The dominating genera are Achillea (11 taxa), Centaurea (11 taxa), Scorzonera (9 taxa), Alcea (8 taxa), Euphorbia (8 taxa), Salvia (8 taxa), Anthemis (7 taxa), Taraxacum (7 taxa), Tragopogon (7 taxa), Allium (7 taxa), Artemisia (6 taxa), Crataegus (6 taxa), Ranunculus (6 taxa), Rubus (6 taxa), Rumex (6 taxa), Thymus (6 taxa), Anchusa (5 taxa), Plantago (5 taxa), Rosa (5 taxa), Stachys (5 taxa), Tanacetum (5 taxa) and Verbascum (5 taxa). Although this region shows the highest ratio of endemism (25%) in Turkey, this ratio for medicinal plants lies around 8 percent. Out of 444 taxa evaluated medicinally 82 were observed to be poisonous. Local people in the region generally use herbal remedies for the treatment of gastro-intestinal disorders, respiratory system disorders, rheumatic pain, kidney stones, hemorrhoids and skin troubles such as cut, wounds, burns, and abscess. In this paper an attempt has been made to present the information on the medicinal plants of the region for its availability to the researchers in different fields related to herbal drugs.
İnsanoğlu ilkçağlardan günümüze kadar yaşadığı bölgede çevresindeki bitkilerden değişik amaçlarla yararlanmış, bu bitkileri çeşitli isimlerle adlandırarak bu adların kuşaklar boyunca nesilden nesile ...aktarılmasını sağlamıştır. Ülkemiz sahip olduğu bitki çeşitliliği, farklı coğrafik ve iklimsel özellikleri bakımından dünyanın en zengin bitki örtüsüne sahip ülkelerin başında gelmektedir. Çeşitli medeniyetlere ev sahipliği yapan Anadolu bu bitkilerden yararlanma bakımından oldukça zengin bir kültüre de ev sahipliği yapmaktadır. Ülkemizde var olan bu bitkilerin farklı yörelerde çeşitli isimler ile adlandırılması kültürel bir zenginlik olup, bu zenginliğin yapılan bilimsel çalışmalarla kayıt altına alınması büyük önem arz etmektedir. Bu çalışma Düzce’nin Gölyaka ilçesinde yerel halk tarafından çeşitli amaçlarla kullanılan bitkilerinin yöresel ve bilimsel adlarının belirlenmesi amacı ile yapılmıştır. Arazi çalışmaları 2019-2020 tarihleri arasındaki farklı vejetasyon tarihlerini kapsayan bu çalışmada Gölyaka ilçesine bağlı 10 köy araştırma bölgesi olarak seçilmiştir. Bu kapsamda yörede yaşayan halkın gıda, tıbbi, süs, hayvan yemi, yakacak ve boyama amaçlı olarak kullandığı bitkilerin yöresel ve bilimsel isimlerinin kayıt altına alınması hedeflenmiştir. Yapılan araştırma sonucunda 45 familyaya ait 112 takson belirlenmiştir. Gölyaka’da teşhisi yapılan bitkiler için 187 farklı yöresel ismin kullanıldığı, bu bitkilerin geleneksel adlandırılmasında en yaygın kullanılan yaklaşımın renk özelliklerinden yararlanılarak olduğu belirlenmiştir.
