The integration of gas and electricity networks has emerged as a promising approach to enhance the overall flexibility of energy systems. As the transition toward sustainable and decarbonized energy ...sources accelerates, the seamless coordination between electricity and gas infrastructure becomes increasingly crucial. This paper presents a comprehensive review of the state-of-the-art research and developments concerning the flexibility in the operation of low-carbon integrated gas and electricity networks (IGENs) as part of the whole system approach. Methods and solutions to provide and improve flexibility in the mentioned systems are studied and categorized. Flexibility is the system’s ability to deal with changes and uncertainties in the network while maintaining an acceptable level of reliability. The presented review underscores the significance of this convergence in facilitating demand-side management, renewable energy integration, and overall system resilience. By highlighting the technical, economic, and regulatory aspects of such integration, this paper aims to guide researchers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders toward effective decision-making and the formulation of comprehensive strategies that align with the decarbonization of energy systems.

Lactic acid bacteria can affect the maturation of immune cells and their products not only in the gut but also on the systemic immune organs such as lymph nodes and spleen. In the present work, we ...studied the effects of oral administration of Lactobacillus acidophilus on the immune responses of BALB/c mice bearing transplanted breast tumour. Two groups of female inbred BALB/c mice, each containing nine mice as test and control, were used. The L. acidophilus ATCC4356 strain was inoculated in DeMan-Rogosa-Sharpe broth and cultivated for 24 h at 37 degrees C. Then, it was collected by centrifugation, and was washed and suspended in PBS. Afterwards, 0.5 ml/d of this suspension, which contained 2.7 x 108 colony forming units/ml of bacteria, was orally administered to the mice by gavage, 14 d before tumour transplantation and 30 d after that with 3-d intervals. Similar to the test mice, the control mice received an equal volume of PBS. The results showed that oral administration of L. acidophilus increased the production of IL-12 (P < 0.05) and decreased the level of transforming growth factor beta (P = 0.05) in the splenocyte culture. Moreover, the growth rate of tumour in the test mice decreased (P < 0.01), and the results of delayed-type hypersensitivity assay after 48 h were risen (P < 0.05) in comparison with the controls. Results suggest that daily consumption of L. acidophilus can improve the production of immunomodulatory cytokine IL-12 in the splenocyte culture, which was stimulated by tumour antigen in BALB/c mice bearing transplanted breast tumour. But further studies are needed to find out some other possible mechanisms of this effect.
Zoonotic diseases can be occupational hazards to people who work in close contact with animals or their carcasses. In this cross-sectional study, 190 sera were collected from butchers and ...slaughterhouse workers in different regions of the Sistan va Baluchestan province, in Iran in 2011. A questionnaire was filled for each participant to document personal and behavioural information. The sera were tested for detection of specific IgG antibodies against brucellosis, leptospirosis, and Q fever (phase I and II) using commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA). The seroprevalence of brucellosis was 7.9%, leptospirosis 23.4%, and phase I and II of Q fever were 18.1% and 14.4%, respectively. The seroprevalence of Q fever and leptospirosis, but not brucellosis, varied among regions within the province (p = 0.01). Additionally, a significant relationship was found between seropositivity of Q fever and camel slaughtering (p = 0.04). Reduced seropositivity rate of brucellosis was associated with use of personal protective equipment (PPE) (p = 0.004). This study shows that brucellosis, leptospirosis and Q fever occur among butchers and slaughterhouse workers in this area.
Dendritic cells (DCs) are a group of bone marrow-derived cells that play a crucial role in innate and acquired immune responses. Bone marrow-derived dendritic cells (BMDC) are used in many studies, ...so the efficiency and purity of the differentiated cells are essential. This study aimed to investigate the effect of several parameters, including the age of mice, cell culture medium, and swirling of the culture plate, to increase the efficiency of the induced cells, considering the standard protocols.
Bone marrow-derived dendritic cells were induced from both juvenile and adult mice bone marrow cells. Then, the purity of CD11c+ cells was compared between juvenile mice BMDCs and adult mice BMDCs. Cells were cultured in an enriched and non-enriched medium, and some wells were swirled when changing the medium on the 3rd day. Then the effect of enriched medium and swirling before medium replacement were evaluated based on the expression of the CD11c marker.
The efficiency of DCs differentiation (CD11c+ cells) was higher when juvenile mouse bone marrow precursors were used compared to adult mice; using the enriched media with supplements and swirling the well before media replacement significantly affected the purity of immature CD11c+ cells.
Due to our results, using juvenile mice, an enriched culture medium, and physical removal of granulocyte cells could significantly improve the purity and efficiency of CD11c+ cells. Therefore, considering these three items in the production protocol of these cells can probably reduce the use of lymphocyte-removing antibodies and purification methods.

Since hospitals play an important role in dealing with disaster victims, this study was conducted to audit the functional preparedness of the selected military hospital in ...response to incidents and disasters.
Materials and methods
This applied action research was conducted in all wards of a military hospital from September 2020 to September 2021. The functional preparedness of the hospital was assessed using a functional preparedness checklist containing 17 domains and the weaknesses of the hospital were identified. Then, during the hospital audit cycle, a plan was developed to improve work processes and the functional preparedness of different wards of the hospital in response to incidents and disasters using the FOCUS-PDCA model. The functional preparedness of the hospital was compared before and after the intervention and analyzed using SPSS22.
Results
The relative mean score of hospital preparedness in response to disasters was 508 out of 900 (56.44%) before the intervention, which was moderate. The relative mean score of the hospital preparedness in response to disasters was 561 (63.63%) after the intervention, which was good. The highest preparedness was related to risk assessment (85%) and the lowest preparedness was related to victims’ dead bodies (44%).
Conclusion
Considering the effect of action research on improving the hospital’s functional preparedness in response to disasters, other healthcare facilities are encouraged to incorporate auditing into their work plans.
Overexpression of HER2 has been reported in many types of cancer, making it a perfect candidate for targeted immunotherapy. The combination of two FDA approved monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), ...trastuzumab and pertuzumab, has more robust anti-tumor activity in patients with HER2-overexpressing breast cancer. We recently produced a new humanized anti-HER2 mAb, hersintuzumab, which recognizes a different epitope than trastuzumab and pertuzumab on HER2. This mAb, in combination with trastuzumab, exhibits more potent anti-tumor activity than each parental mAb alone. Here we have developed a novel bispecific anti-HER2 antibody (BsAb) designated as trasintuzumab, composed of trastuzumab and hersintuzumab, using dual variable domain immunoglobulin (DVD-Ig) technology. Both variable domains of trasintuzumab are fully functional and have similar affinities to the parental mAbs and are also able to bind to natural HER2 on the surface of several HER2-expressing cell lines. Trasintuzumab was found to inhibit the growth of different types of tumor cell lines through suppression of the AKT and ERK signaling pathways as efficiently as the combination of the parental mAbs. It also induced tumor regression as potently as the combination of the two mAbs in nude mice bearing ovarian and gastric cancer xenografts. Our data suggest that trasintuzumab may be a promising BsAb therapeutic candidate for the treatment of HER2-overexpressing cancers.

Caffeine plays an important role in pain modulation through their action on adenosine receptors which are involved in nociception. The use of caffeine as adjuvant treatment was well-established in the literature and caffeine is currently available in some over the counter medications. Studies showed controversial results about the interaction between caffeine and morphine for pain relief in patients with terminal stage cancer. As a main component for pain modulation, Caffeine can be used for hypnic headache and postdural puncture headache.
Caffeine has a potential role for pain modulation. Current evidence on caffeine use for migraine and terminal stage cancer is not well-established. Future studies should address the use of caffeine alone for different types of pain with dose escalation and standardization of outcome measurement.
Energy hubs (EHs) enable all types of energy customers to participate in demand response programs (DRPs), such as inelastic loads, by combining electricity, heat, natural gas, and other types of ...energy. Integrated demand response (IDR) is the result of this new vision. From a global warming perspective, environmental emissions are a significant issue to be considered. Furthermore, hydrogen has been recognized as an attractive fuel for decarbonizing sectors that contribute to global warming. Thus, this paper provides a solution to global environmental problems through the utilization of renewable energy sources (RESs) and green hydrogen. In addition, electric vehicles (EVs) are expected to contribute significantly to this scenario due to their rapid expansion. Considering the uncertainty of electricity prices, this paper focuses on coordinating EV parking with hydrogen storage systems (HSS) and IDR with the aim of increasing flexibility, where a robust optimization (RO) method has been implemented to solve the problem. The results demonstrate that in the case of a deterministic solution to the problem and where uncertainty is at the highest level, the proposed scheme reduces the total operating costs by 13.89% and 8.67%, respectively. This indicates that the proposed scheme could avoid overinvestment and cost-effectively achieve the given carbon emission target.
