Pseudorapidity density and multiplicity distributions of charged particles produced in heavy-ion collisions at the BNL AGS have been studied. The multiplicity distributions and pseudorapidity ...distributions of shower particles in Au-induced interactions are presented and compared with model predictions from RQMD, FRITIOF and VENUS. It is shown that the widths of the pseudorapidity distributions of produced particles in central collisions are independent of the interacting system. The results from EMU01 have been compared, and found to agree, with the results from two other heavy-ion experiments, E802 and E814.
We present inelastic neutron scattering measurements on liquid mercury at
room temperature for wave numbers $q$ in the range 0.3 $< q <$ 7.0 \AA$^{-1}$.
We find that the energy halfwidth of the ...incoherent part of the dynamic
structure factor $S(q,E)$ is determinded by a self-diffusion process. The
halfwidth of the coherent part of $S(q, E)$ shows the characteristic behavior
expected for a cage diffusion process. We also show that the response function
at small wave numbers exhibits a quasi-elastic mode with a time scale
characteristic of cage diffusion, however, its intensity is larger by an order
of magnitude than what would be expected for cage diffusion. We speculate on a
scenario in which the intensity of the cage diffusion mode at small wave
numbers is amplified through a valence fluctuation mechanism.

The coherent production of pi and rho mesons in nusub mu(bar nusub mu)--neon charged-current interactions has been studied using the Fermilab 15-foot bubble chamber filled with a heavy Ne-Hsub 2 mix ...and exposed to the Teva- tron quadrupole triplet (anti)neutrino beam. The nusub mu (bar nusub mu) beam had an average energy of 80 GeV (70 GeV). From a sample corresponding to approximately 28 000 charged-current interactions, net signals of (53plus minus9) musup plus minuspisup minus plus coherent events and (19plus minus7) musup plus minuspisup minus pluspisup 0 coherent events are extracted. For ital Egt10 GeV, the coherent pion production cross section is determined to be (3.2plus minus0.7)times10sup minus38 cmsup 2 per neon nucleus whereas the coherent rho production cross section is (2.1plus minus0.8)times10sup minus38 cmsup 2 per neon nucleus. These cross sections and the kinematical characteristics of the coherent events at vert barital tvert barlt0.1 GeVsup 2 are found to be in general agreement with the predictions of a model based on the hadron dominance and, in the pion case, on the partially conserved axial-vector current hypothesis. Also discussed is the coherent production of systems consisting of three pions.
