Hvordan får frivillige ledere samarbejdet med de frivillige hjælpere til at lykkes? Sådanne ledelseskompetencer i en ikke-profession vil forventeligt i nogen grad også kunne overføres til en given ...leders profession. Med udgangspunkt i spilteori og data fra Smukfest gives to hovedforklaringer. Først er de som hard-ridere gode til at skabe sociale relationer og belønne hard-rider medhjælpere via retfærdig social anerkendelse for deres indsats. Her skabes en ekstra social gevinst ved tillidsbaseret samarbejde. For det andet er nogle hard-rider ledere klar til, som tough-ridere, at opdrage en easy-rider hjælper via samtale og krav om arbejde eller ej. Samlet gives her et vigtigt signal i forhold til, hvad forventningen er, så easy-ridere ikke belønnes og dermed ikke fortrænger hard-ridere i fremtiden.

Societal crises such as the recent COVID-19 pandemic challenge public organizations in many ways. Yet, there is little knowledge of how varying crisis intensity can spark different reactions among ...public leaders and employees. This study examines the dynamics of the COVID-19 crisis in relation to leadership behaviors and employee outcomes for 920 individuals in 45 organizational units within the police, hospitals, and assisted living facilities. By conducting a panel study that combines nationwide data on crisis intensity with survey data from 2019 to 2021, the study shows that employee outcomes such as public service motivation and job satisfaction are higher in severe stages of the crisis. Likewise, crisis intensity is positively associated with employee perceived use of visionary transformational leadership, but negatively associated with employee perceived use of verbal transactional leadership. Hence, public leaders should be prepared to handle complex employee reactions when the next crisis occurs.

Let a, b, c denote the sides of a plane triangle, 2s the perimeter, T the area, r and R the radii of the inscribed and the circumscribed circles, ra, rb, rc the radii of the escribed circles and ha, ...hb, hc the altitudes. These quantities satisfy a system of fundamental equations (formulas (1)–(6) p. 30). Conversely, positive quantities satisfying this system will have the above-mentioned meaning for a triangle of sides a, b, c. Algebraically, the full system is equivalent to a reduced, non-symmetric minimal set of equations ((I)–(VIII) p. 34). From the given system (1)–(6), the author derives several other relations, many of them well-known. Of particular interest are the two formulas (31) and (32) p. 33, expressing the sum of powers rap+rbp+rcp+(–r)p by R, T and S=a2+b2+c2 for all positive and negative integral exponents p.
